The newly released posters spotlight several major returning characters from the live-action adaptation, including Gordon Cormier’s Aang, Kiawentiio’s Katara and Ian Ousley’s Sokka. However, much of the attention online has centered around Miya Cech’s Toph, whose casting was first revealed during Netflix’s Geeked Week event in 2024. Fans of the original animated series have been especially eager to see how the fan-favorite Earthbender would look in live action.
Fans seem quite thrilled with what they’ve seen so far, with many flooding the comments with excitement. One user wrote, “Just what we wanted,” while another said, “Toph looks amazing!!! Aang looks kinda old though.” Another fan shared that seeing the Gaang back on screen again feels like “an entire generation unlocking childhood memories all at once.”
Cormier also opened up about how much has changed since filming Season 1. The actor explained that he was only 12 years old while shooting the first season and now feels noticeably older entering the next chapter of Aang’s journey.
According to him, Season 2 will raise the emotional stakes significantly. “It’s definitely going to be a lot more action-packed and emotional,” Cormier told TUDUM, adding that some scenes may even leave viewers in tears while “making them laugh.”
Netflix has confirmed that Season 2 will premiere on June 25, 2026, with seven episodes instead of the eight released in Season 1. The streamer previously renewed the adaptation for both Seasons 2 and 3, with the third installment expected to conclude the story, mirroring the original Nickelodeon series’ three-season run.
Beyond the core trio, several new cast additions are joining the upcoming season. Terry Chen will portray Jeong Jeong, while Dolly de Leon appears as Lo and Li. Dichen Lachman, Lily Gao, and Madison Hu are also part of the expanding ensemble.
