Google is Taking on Apple with an Android 17 Optimised for Creators

Google is adding new features for creators to Android 17. People who post a lot on Instagram should benefit just as much as users of Adobe Premiere.

Screen Reactions

Reaction videos will be as simple to create with Android 17 as they are on an iPhone, as Google promises: “With Screen Reactions, in just a few taps you can record yourself and your screen at the same time, letting you overlay your authentic response directly onto trending clips, wild comment sections or your latest gift guide. You’ll see this feature roll out first on Pixel devices this summer.”

As Instagram is part of Meta, Google is inevitably collaborating with the company. This is giving rise to the following features and services:

• Ultra HDR recording and playback are designed to deliver lifelike colours
• Built-in video stabilisation for shudder-free videos, whether you’re walking or dancing
• Night vision mode allows for perfect shots, even in low light

To ensure your photos and videos remain crystal clear even when you tap ‘Post’, Google says it has “optimized the capture-to-upload pipeline”.

Exclusive Android features on Instagram

Google is also introducing new tools in Instagram’s Edits app, exclusively for Android. Thanks to on-device AI, unedited shots are said to be transformed into professional-looking content in a matter of seconds.

Google highlights these improvements:

• Smart optimisation: With just a single tap, you can instantly enhance photos and videos, thanks to advanced on-device AI
• Audio editing: The Edits app now recognises separate audio tracks – wind, ambient noise and music – so you can highlight the sound you want and remove unwanted noises

Google also plans to optimise Instagram for Android tablets, so that creators can take advantage of larger screens.

Adobe Premiere app for Android

The Adobe Premiere app for Android is set to launch in summer 2026. It will include access to exclusive templates and effects, allowing you to create and post YouTube Shorts directly within the app.

APV (Advanced Professional Video) is designed as a storage-efficient video format for professional filmmakers and content creators. It has been specially developed for creatives who produce content using their smartphones.

Google developed the feature in collaboration with Samsung, and it is now available on the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra and Vivo X300 Ultra. APV is set to arrive on further flagship devices featuring the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip later this year.
