The penultimate episode of The Boys showed Homelander making a shocking move, allowing him to finally take control of the United States. Besides that, his other moves may have set up a chain reaction for his own downfall.

Homelander kills President Calhoun in The Boys Season 5 Episode 7

In The Boys season 5 episode 7, titled “The Frenchman, The Female, and the Man Called Mother’s Milk,” Antony Starr’s Homelander kills President Calhoun after learning of the latter’s doubts over him.

After injecting himself with the V1 serum in the last episode, his need for adoration doesn’t stop at civilians. In a tense moment set inside the Oval Office, Homelander asks Calhoun to abolish Congress, make abortions illegal, and make breastfeeding mandatory. Sensing the President’s unwillingness, he asks Ashley to read President Calhoun’s mind to see if the latter has truly devoted himself to the supe’s supremacy.

After Ashley begrudingly reveals the President’s doubts over Homelander, the supe kills him, effectively making Ashley the new President. While Ashley confronts her other half over the decision to back Homelander out of fear for survival, the move essentially gives Homelander control over the United States’ political landscape. This, combined with the other moves that the Seven’s leader makes, puts Homelander at the height of his powers.

The Boys will return for its series finale next week on May 20, 2026, on Prime Video. In a surprising move, Prime Video announced that it will release The Boys’ final episode in 4DX theaters. The finale is expected to finally reveal whether the Boys can beat an immortal Homelander.

Next week’s finale will likely conclude Hughie, Butcher, Annie, Homelander, and Soldier Boy’s stories, but the Vought universe will continue to live on in spinoffs like Vought Rising. The final episode is also expected to give some closure to Gen V’s heroes following its cancellation.
