Rooster wrapped up its first season as HBO‘s most-watched comedy debut in more than 15 years, according to Warner Bros. Discovery.

The company said Thursday that Sunday night’s finale tallied 2.2M U.S. viewers in its first three days. That’s down just a tad from the 2.4M who tuned in for the premiere in L3, and it’s not the highest of the season, but overall the freshman comedy held steady over the course of 10 episodes.

Deadline understands that all episodes fell between 2.2M to 2.5M U.S. viewers in L3 with Episode 8 ranking as the most-watched in that timeframe.

In all, the season is averaging 6.5M U.S. viewers per episode to-date, making it the best performance for an HBO comedy series in quite some time.

Set on a college campus, Rooster centers on an author’s (Carell) complicated relationship with his daughter (Charly Clive). Danielle Deadwyler, Phil Dunster, John C. McGinley, and Lauren Tsai also star. Connie Britton is recurring.

Co-showrunners Bill Lawrence and Matt Tarses executive produce with Doozer’s Jeff Ingold and Liza Katzer, Jonathan Krisel, Barbie Adler, Annie Mebane, David Stassen, Anthony King, David Hyman, and Steve Carell. The studio is Warner Bros. Television, where both Doozer and Tarses are under overall deals.
