Banking technology provider Temenos is widening the cloud deployment options for its banking software, adding digital banking and payments to its SaaS offering on Amazon Web Services (AWS) while extending its work with First Abu Dhabi Bank in Saudi Arabia.

Banks can now access a wider range of Temenos software as SaaS on AWS, with the offering covering core banking, digital channels and payments. Institutions can adopt the technology in separate components or as part of a more integrated deployment, depending on their existing systems and technology plans.

Temenos says the model can support banks across retail, business and corporate banking, while allowing them to connect with existing systems or use a pre-configured setup.

Scott Mullins, MD, worldwide financial services, AWS, said the expansion enables institutions to adopt new capabilities at their own pace.

“Whether modernising incrementally or going end-to-end, Temenos SaaS on AWS meets banks where they are – with the security, scalability and regulatory alignment that financial services demands.”

AWS relationship expands beyond core banking

Temenos and AWS have worked together since 2019, with banks including MidWestOne Bank in the US, Credem in Italy, WeLab Bank in Hong Kong and Ila Bank, Bank ABC’s digital bank in Bahrain, deploying Temenos technology on AWS.

The companies pointed to AWS’ geographical coverage as a factor for banks managing local data residency requirements, alongside security, resilience and availability considerations.

According to David Albertazzi, executive advisor and director of retail banking and payments practice at advisory firm Datos Insights, the expansion reflects a broader industry shift toward more composable, cloud-based banking architectures.

“For financial institutions, this approach introduces additional flexibility in how core, digital, and payments capabilities can be deployed and integrated,” he said. “As banks continue to modernize their technology environments, considerations such as security, data sovereignty, and regulatory alignment remain central to platform selection and implementation strategies.”

FAB extends Temenos work in Saudi Arabia

Separately, First Abu Dhabi Bank is extending its long-standing collaboration with Temenos through a new project in Saudi Arabia.

FAB is implementing Temenos Core Banking, Payments Hub and Data Hub on cloud infrastructure in the Kingdom. The project will support the bank’s Islamic banking operations and is intended to help deliver Shari’ah-compliant services across retail, SME and corporate banking.

The bank says the deployment will also support compliance with local regulatory standards and strengthen governance within its Saudi operations.

FAB is already a long-standing Temenos client, operating multi-entity instances of Temenos Core Banking across 12 countries. The Saudi Arabia project builds on a relationship between the two companies that spans more than a decade.

Santhosh Rao, managing director – Middle East and Africa, at Temenos, said: “We are proud to extend our collaboration with FAB in Saudi Arabia, one of the region’s most dynamic banking markets. Our core banking technology will empower FAB to accelerate its digital transformation and drive operational excellence. This engagement builds on over a decade of collaboration between FAB and Temenos, leveraging Temenos’ strong presence and proven track record in the Kingdom.”
