Loki and Daredevil have yet to face off in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but there was almost a crossover of sorts behind the scenes of Daredevil: Born Again. In an interview ahead of the Born Again season two finale, star Charlie Cox revealed that Tom Hiddleston—whom he’s worked with on non-Marvel projects and is a personal friend—came very close to directing a Born Again episode.

Speaking to Josh Horowitz onstage as part of the Happy Sad Confused podcast (via CBR), Cox was delighted by a video clip of Hiddleston, who brought up their 2019 stint co-starring on Broadway in Harold Pinter’s Betrayal. That led to a story about how the star of Disney+ series Loki almost helmed an episode of Cox’s own Disney+ show, Daredevil: Born Again.

“The first season of Born Again was originally, before the strike [in 2023], going to be 18 episodes long, and Tom was going to direct one of the episodes,” Cox revealed.

He went on to call it “one of the great losses of the back half of that original season.” Season one, which streamed in 2025, ended up running nine episodes instead.

“The changes that were made to the show were needed and necessary and made it much better,” Cox admitted.

But Cox is still bummed it didn’t work out: “He was going to direct episode 12 or something… We were already on the phone collaborating and coming up with ideas and stuff. That would have been lovely.”

Hey, there’s always Born Again season three. Make it happen, Marvel!
