In summary:
- Tech Advisor reports that Xiaomi is expected to launch three new phones globally on May 28th, including the 17T, 17T Pro, and potentially the 17 Max.
- The Xiaomi 17 Max appears to offer significant upgrades with a 6.9-inch AMOLED display, 8,000mAh battery, and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor.
- These mid-range devices feature enhanced specifications like 200Mp main cameras and 100W charging, positioning them as successors to the 15T series.
Xiaomi is planning big things for its flagship 17 series, with reports of an imminent global launch for the Xiaomi 17T series as well as something a little extra.
According to tipster Yogesh Brar, Xiaomi will be launching the Xiaomi 17T and Xiaomi 17T Pro globally on 28 May (in two weeks). These will be mid-range phones as a follow-up to the Xiaomi 15T (once again, there is no 16 model number).
We had previously heard it claimed that the Xiaomi 17T series might be launching this month, but couldn’t quite believe that this would apply globally, given that the Xiaomi 17 only landed at the end of February.
Brar also mentions that the new Xiaomi 17 Max is being considered for a wider launch, which is interesting.
Xiaomi to the Max
Back at the aforementioned February launch of the Xiaomi 17, we only got the smaller model. However, Xiaomi has just offered us a glimpse at the larger Max model – in Sky Blue, White, and Pixel Black – ahead of a full launch later in May.
Unlike previous generations, the Xiaomi 17 Max looks set to feature a few more differences to the Xiaomi 17. It’s not quite the case that it’s the same phone but bigger, like the Samsung Galaxy S26+.
Xiaomi
Naturally, the Xiaomi 17 Max will pack a larger 6.9-inch AMOLED display, but it’s also tipped to run a much bigger 8,000mAh battery than its littler brother. It’ll also reportedly include a 200Mp main 1/1.4-inch main sensor, unlike the Xiaomi 17 and its 50Mp lead camera.
The other two cameras will likely be the same 50Mp affairs. Expect the same Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC powering it all, not to mention the same 100W wired and 50W wireless charging provisions as the Xiaomi 17.
All in all, it’s a phone we’d love to see here in the West.
