Smartwatches have long since evolved from mere fitness gadgets into practical everyday companions. They display notifications right on your wrist, track health metrics and, for many users, have even replaced the wallet when it comes to making quick payments.
It gets particularly interesting when new models drop sharply in price immediately after their market launch. That is exactly what is happening now with the new Xiaomi Redmi Watch 6: the smartwatch launched just a few weeks ago at an RRP of £104.99, but you can already get it for just £84.99 – the same price as the new Fitbit Air.
This is the lowest price seen for the newly released model, saving you 19% and you can get a matching discount on the Redmi Watch 6 NFC model, bringing it from £129.99 down to just £104.99.
All colours are available, but both are Limited Time Deals on Amazon and end on 30 May, so get your order in before it’s too late.
What the Xiaomi Redmi Watch 6 has to offer
Xiaomi has equipped its new smartwatch with a 2.07-inch AMOLED display. The manufacturer has also opted for an exceptionally slim bezel design with just 2 millimetres of bezel on both sides. The improved display materials are said to ensure high brightness, which improves readability outdoors – an important factor for sport and everyday use.
The case has also been redesigned. At 9.9mm thick, the watch is, according to the manufacturer, 1.4 millimetres slimmer than its predecessor. The frame is made of aluminium alloy, which generally looks more premium in everyday use than classic plastic cases, whilst remaining robust enough for regular use.
Xiaomi claims up to 24 days’ battery life with light use. In everyday use, the actual battery life naturally depends heavily on how intensively you use GPS, notifications or the always-on display. Even with significantly shorter real-world figures, however, the watch is likely to outperform many classic smartwatch competitors.
The NFC (on the more expensive NFC model) function for contactless payments is handy. Mastercard and Visa are supported, so purchases can be made directly via the watch without having to take your smartphone out of your pocket.
The Redmi Watch 6 NFC also offers a wide range of sports features. More than 150 sports modes are built in. Added to this are heart rate monitoring, sleep tracking and a dual L1-L5 GNSS system with support for GPS and GLONASS, designed to record outdoor activities more accurately. For runners or cyclists in particular, the more precise positioning can be a real advantage.
With 5 ATM water resistance, the watch is also suitable for swimming or in the rain.
Why this offer is worth it
The deal is particularly attractive because the price has already dropped significantly shortly after its launch. You can get the latest Xiaomi smartwatch at the best price with a 19% discount.

However, the reviews so far are still very limited, which makes it difficult to form a definitive opinion. The feedback so far has been mixed: the high-quality case, the good display quality and the overall premium feel are praised. Criticism comes mainly from users who are making a direct comparison with the predecessor. It is noted several times that the functional differences appear to be minor and that the extra cost compared to older Redmi Watch models isn’t worth it for everyone.
So, if you’re upgrading from an older or basic fitness watch, you’ll get a modern all-round package here with a large display, NFC, GPS and long battery life. Alternatively, you could get the older Redmi Watch 5 Active for just £27.99 for an amazingly good value deal. Especially as, according to early users, the differences lie more in the details than in the core functions.
